Blue Ice - Glacier Hiking on Sólheimajökull

Here is your chance to visit a glacier and not just any glacier. This trip will take you to the frozen glacial tongue that is Sólheimajökull (2 hours east of Reykjavik). It is a magnificent phenomenon, a rugged, raw and ever changing hub of ancient frozen water. We will explore the crevasse riddled outlet glacier with its amazing ice formations, sinkholes and jagged ridges. Along the way, we will find an ice wall on the glacier and try our hand at ice climbing. We will provide you with all the tools you need: ice axes, crampons and safety lines.

Glacier Wonders - Glacier Walk from Skaftafell

For those looking for a shorter but stunning guided walk, this is a fantastic introduction to the unique world of glaciers. The Falljökull glacier tongue is quite unique in that it offers everything glaciers are best known for without the need to travel great distances. Crevasses, Jökladrýli (Dirt cones), glacier mice and Moulins. Suitable for the whole family (10 years and older), student groups and anyone with a basic fitness level (please note that the terrain is rocky and uneven and there are some uphill sections on the walk).
